A tour around London South Bank

When you are coming just for a short stay or holidays in London, it is essentials to plan your time effectively, as in short term you want to manage to see favourite iconic places and locations of London. Short Let London would like to help you to plan some routes, which cover the main sights and attractions, but with a fresh look on it to avoid tourists' pits.

Today we will take you to the South Bank of London, even though this is a popular place among the tourists, it`s a must see old historical location. Once the South Bank was a rough deprived London area, where all the warehouses, theatres and bars for working men were seated. However, it was regenerated and nowadays is known as a very artistic place where culture vultures go. No wonder, it is a home to Southbank Art Centre, which includes Hayward Gallery, a favourite place for contemporary visual arts, Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall, where performances, dance and live events are taking place. Some of the greatest theatre are also located here – National Theatre, Shakespeare`s Globe, The Old Vic and Young Vic. For ultimate cinema experience visit BFI IMAX and BFI Southbank film centre. Instead of going a standard tourist way towards the London Eye and Sea Life London Aquarium, you can walk to The Globe theatre and Tate Modern gallery. It will be a pleasant stroll alongside river Thames, and you will find beautiful cafes, bars and restaurants on your way, we can name a few – The Rake, Anchor Tavern, OXO Tower Wharf and Restaurant, and these are not the least. You can also get fresh or home-made food from food stalls and markets.

Are you not tired yet? Then you might walk across the Millennium Bridge, which connects the Tate Modern and St Paul`s Cathedral, and visit London's biggest and most impressive cathedral. If it is not your cup of tea, then go towards the Borough Market, and look out for The George Inn – the last galleried inn of London dated back to the 17th century and attended by Charles Dickens, and Clink Prison, now turned into a museum. Short Let London wishes you to enjoy your day, wondering around the narrow streets shaded with historical past, while we make sure you have an apartment for your short stay in London, our vacation lettings and short rental flats are waiting for your visit.
