Things to visit in London: Camden Town

Camden Town is well known and popular area in London for its busy life style, colourful markets, alternative fashion, hectic night life, art scene, rock-n-roll and other live music events. It is a home for goths, and punks and there are various shops and markets where they can get alternative cloth and accessories, like Chaos, Darkside and Cyber Market, tattoo and piercing saloons. At night time Camden Town attracts locals, people from neighbouring areas and tourists from around the world as it offers numerous bars, restaurants and pubs, clubs and music/performances venues. Visit the pubs Buck's Head, Oxford Arms, Camden Bar and Kitchen, these places are serving good meals. Electra Theatre and Camden Head also host open mic sessions and live music events, Hawley Arms is famous for rock-n-roll bands plying live. The highlight here is Camden Lock Tavern, which has DJs bar and a lovely roof top garden. Opposite the Mornington Crescent tube station is KOKO club, a former theatre now is a host to big club nights.

Camden Town: an alternative place for shopping

Roam around Camden markets and get yourself lost in the buzz of numerous cloth stalls: Camden Market, Electric Ballroom, Camden Lock Village Market, Camden Market, The Stables, Inverness Street market. Apart from retro cloths you can get meals from world cuisines. Camden Town art life is also very rich and diverse, here is the Roundhouse with live performances, Camden Proud and Proud Galleries. If you want to get away from the buzz and have more relaxed time in Camden, walk along the Regents canal, which will lead you to a Little Venice, feed the birds and watch the boats passing by. Regents Park and London Zoo is just around the corner, so Camden Town can be an ideal place both for a family day out, or for party goers. Short Let London tenants who are staying in our holiday apartments and short term flats in Swiss Cottage, Kilburn Park, and South Hampstead are walking distance away from this interesting area, Short Let London recommends staying here as you are not far at all from the iconic and legendary area of London.
